BATTLE OF SAINTE-FOY

Consequences

After Montreal capitulated, Québec was governed by a military regime while awaiting the treaty that would officially establish its capture by the British. This regime, under the supervision of Governor Murray, lasted until 1763 when the Treaty of Paris was signed, officially terminating the Seven Years' War. The war years had devastated the colony, which was literally in ruins. The military helped rebuild and put the fields back into production; but they tried not to interfere with the lives of the people as much as possible. Governor Murray also put the trade sector in order and made an inventory of supplies to prevent food shortages148.
